In 2022, CABFishMan will be releasing a series of short films highlighting the work underway to facilitate a holistic, collaborative approach to ecosystem sensitive management of small-scale fisheries. In the series, we hear directly from the partners working on the ground in small-scale fisheries across Spain, Ireland, France, Portugal, and the UK, to understand how their work will support the development of tools for future co-management in the region.
David Castilla from University of Huelva, Spain, explores the need to integrate economic assessment as a key metric when evaluating the ecosystem services of small-scale fisheries, to avoid the creation of biases in their management. As part of the our Fisheries Natural and Cultural Heritage work stream, David is supporting the development of tools for effective management of Northeast Atlantic small-scale fisheries.
