As part of European Maritime Day’s #EMDInMyCountry, CABFISHMAN partners are hosted a series of events, exploring the value and heritage of small-scale fisheries in the Northeast Atlantic. Hosted in Spanish, the first event of the series ‘Does price matter in small-scale fisheries Atlantic fishing grounds? Learning in practice: showcase of the CABFISHMAN tool’ was held online on Wednesday 23rd June, 12:00 – 13:30 CEST.
¿Importa el valor económico de los caladeros de pesca artesanal atlánticos? | Does price matter in small-scale fisheries Atlantic fishing grounds? Learning in practice: showcase of the CABFISHMAN tool
The event, chaired by Arantza Murillas of AZTI Foundation and facilitated by Laura García de la Fuente of Indurot (Universidad de Oviedo), explored the diverse value of small-scale fisheries across the Northeast Atlantic, examining how cultural, social, and economic values may be quantified and evaluated against other impacts, such as carbon emissions. Split into two parts, the first half of the event showcased the CABFISHMAN GeoTool, developed as part of our Tool Development programme, before featuring industry-led presentations on the socio-economic value of small-scale fisheries in Spain. The second focused on environmental and management considerations.
